چکیده
Tissue from nine human eyes (ages 52-78 yr) was used to investigate the fine structural distribution of collagens I-VI and laminin in the ciliary body using the immunogold antibody labeling technique. The anterior segments of the specimens were normal, and the eyes were removed in treatment of choroidal melanoma. The basement membranes of the ciliary epithelium contained collagens I, III, and IV. Laminin was in greater concentration in the outer part of the nonpigmented epithelial basement membrane, and the distribution suggested a washout effect. The zonular apparatus labeled intensely with laminin. In contrast, laminin was not present in the basement membrane of the myocytes in the ciliary body. These cells were sheathed in a basement membrane that contained types I, III, and IV collagen. Plaque-like structures of slightly different morphology (a, filamentous; b, granular; c, amorphous) were found in the tendinous insertions, and subtypes a and b were strongly labeled with laminin. The basement membranes of the vessels contained types I and IV collagen, but laminin labeling was inconclusive. The major finding was that the lamina densa in the basement membranes of various sites labeled for collagens I, III, and IV. Striated collagen fibrils in the stroma were labeled for types I and III. Collagen subtypes V and VI were not identified in significant quantity in any of the regions examined.

Characterization of a novel family of ciliary body glycoproteins.
PURPOSE To isolate and characterize ciliary body epithelial antigens reactive with a monoclonal antibody, 2B4.14.1. METHODS A mouse monoclonal antibody generated against human corneal endothelium, 2B4.14.1 reacts with nonpigmented epithelium of human and guinea pig ciliary bodies. The ciliary body proteins reactive with 2B4.14.1 were identified by Western blotting and were partially purified ...

The release of membrane vesicles from the surface of cells into their surrounding environment is now recognized as an important pathway for the delivery of proteins to extracellular sites of biological function. Membrane vesicles of this kind, termed exosomes and ectosomes, are the result of active processes and have been shown to carry a wide array of biological effector molecules that can pla...

Purpose: To report a rare presentation of ophthalmic tuberculosis. Case Report: A 19-year-old man was referred to the glaucoma clinic due to multiple attacks of increased intraocular pressure (IOP) in his right eye. IOP of the right eye was 50 mmHg, and glaucomatous damage of the optic nerve was present. In gonioscopy, an oval-black lesion was present in the ciliary body band on the temporal si...

Introduction Perforation of maxillary sinus mucous membrane is of the most prevalent complication during open sinus lift surgery. Moreover, such complication can usually be managed by an absorbable membrane. As far as absorbable membranes are concerned, decellularized maxillary sinus mucous membranes, which is an extracellular matrix, can be used as a biologic scaffold and insulating membrane ...
متن کاملAge-dependent iris abnormalities in collagen XVIII/endostatin deficient mice with similarities to human pigment dispersion syndrome.
PURPOSE Collagen XVIII is expressed in ocular basement membranes (BMs) and inactivating mutations cause Knobloch syndrome, with several ocular abnormalities. In this study we investigated ocular structures in collagen XVIII/endostatin (Col18a1(-/-))-deficient mice to elucidate the role of this extracellular matrix component in the eye. METHODS Eyes of Col18a1(-/-) and control mice were examin...
